I felt like trying something different, so I made a small-ish video for some of the first few questions! I felt like flexing my creative muscle a bit and I wanted a way to show off the things I've created/am capable of.
There are some questions that I left out of the video because I felt like the length was getting too long, so I'll answer 'em here:
Your DFS level
At the time of writing out this application, I am level 89. I'd probably be a higher level if I had used the [DFS] tag and didn't abruptly go MIA during mid-2018 to January 2019, but a lot of stuff started piling on top of me during that time period.
Why do you want to become a staff member?
This server seems super wholesome, and I'm the type of person that enjoys giving back to the community wherever and whenever I can, whether it be my lighthearted sense of humor, empathy, content-creating, or anything else that anyone might see in me.
I also genuinely believe that this server is the last bastion of "silly servers" on TF2 that are worth hopping on nowadays. Truth be told, I've lost a lot of interest in gaming, but TF2 is the only game that I always come back to without fail, despite my previous "TF2 IS DEAD RRRREEEEEEEEEE" mindset during 2016. As of right now, my playtime on TF2 alone is 58 hours in the past two weeks, which have all been spent on the DFS servers. I genuinely do enjoy the community here. It stands out from all of the servers I've visited in my 7300+ hours of playtime.
As I've discussed in the video linked above, I'm not too sure what staff position I'd click the best with. I'm good with a lot of things, which I've also listed in the video above. If anything, I think it's best for you guys to decide.
As a developer, I'd be more than happy to provide the server with fresh new content and collaborate with other fellow developers. I'm also willing to learn new things along the way.
As a moderator, I'm more than willing to enforce the rules as needed, and I'm always capable of listening to both sides before making a decision. I believe in true neutrality and I won't choose sides (if at all) until I've heard the full story.
Past experiences as a staff member?
Not pleasant. Not pleasant at all. Hence why I wanted to give it a second shot on DFS.
To reiterate: I helped staff for what could possibly be considered as the Rainfurrest of TF2. Many things went wrong. I will not name the server here, but we branched off of another mainstream TF2 silly server. The issue? We brought a lot of bad apples with us. More than we could handle.
We're talking pedophilia, potential doxing, all that fun stuff.
Eventually, after two years of a never-ending horror story, we were forced to shut it down because we had realized that it was no more than a venomous containment center. The community was never satisfied, no matter what the owner and I did to provide for everyone.
We did our best, but now we just feel as if those two years were all for nothing. Nothing good really came out of it. If anything, we feel as if we both grew a couple of gray hairs and sacrificed several dozen years of our lives in terms of energy wasted maintaining the server.
To further emphasize on how bad things got: We received death threats from salty sailors despite doing nothing apart from running the server and providing content.
So...yeah. I think I'm fairly good at staffing overall. I could've written more, but I don't wanna take up more space in this application than I need to. Besides, some caskets are best left buried.
Are you currently a staff member elsewhere?
In my eyes, no other place is worth staffing. After being roped into the server I had just described, I've started being more cautious and selective about where I want to hang out. DFS fits the bill.
How active are you on DFS? If you're accepted, how active can you be on DFS?
I feel like I've answered this question multiple times already, both in the video and in this written application, but I'll gladly answer it again anyways.
My activity on DFS has been very on/off, but as of December 2018, I've been online pretty much near-daily, and I've been spending more hours than I'd care to admit exclusively on DFS or mapmaking for the server. Keep in mind I'm level 89 (going on to 90 as of writing this very sentence) due to the fact that I've never donned the [DFS] tag. Even if by some miraculous event the tag's bonuses did return, I still wouldn't use it.
If I were accepted, I'd be active a bit more, but to be fair, I'm already on near-daily (for 4 - 8 hours a day, no less.) What more can you ask from me?
Have you ever been banned from DF-
Nope. No siree. No ma'am. No way, no how. I'm a good egg at heart. You're out of your noggin if you think I'd be out looking for trouble. I enjoy building friendships and I do my best to stay away from conflict, and above all else, I value respect. It goes both ways.
I also own up to my mistakes if any occur, and I always apologize if things go wrong. I'm not perfect, but then again, no one is. I try to be the best dude around.
Include any personal information about yourself that could help your application thread
Despite coming off as a monotonous dude, I'm a very kind monotonous dude once you get to know me. I don't bite. If anything, I enjoy the company of others, especially if everyone shares a sense of humor.
I'm very good at keeping promises and I'll more than gladly do favors for anyone in my spare time if they're nice about it. Of course, this doesn't mean I enjoy being walked on. As I stated several sentences ago, stuff like this goes both ways. Always.
If I came off as too humorous in this application, don't worry. It's just my personality showing. I can get serious if I have to, but I don't wanna look intimidating or a pain to be around. I hope this is understandable.
